NANUET, N.Y. – Beer lovers can kick off October, not by carving pumpkins, but by quaffing alcoholic beverages made from the ubiquitous orange squash at a Nanuet gastropub this weekend.

Growler & Gill says it has lined up a dozen pumpkin beers and ciders for Saturday’s event.

Among them are Southern Tier’s Pumpking, Warlock Pumpkin Stout, Schlafly Pumpkin and McKenzie Pumpkin Cider.

New this year is Breckenridge Brewery’s Nitro Pumpkin Spice Latte.

It’s a stout made with dark roasted malts and cold pressed coffee beans.

The dominant notes are vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

The presence of nitrogen makes them all come together in a velvety way.

The pub will also be serving food and desserts featuring pumpkin.

Growler & Gill is at 148 E. Route 59.

It can be reached at (845)-507-0899..
